Creative Movement: Creative Movement is an exciting and stimulating dance activity for children. It builds self-esteem through continuous aerobic exercise in a fun, non-competitive environment. Dance moves including basic tumbling and simple ballet moves are explored to promote muscle strength, balance and coordination in a fun learning environment. Fall term is 12 weeks. Those who enroll in winter/spring term have the option to participate in the spring recital. There is an additional $10 costume usage fee.
Pre-ballet: This class provides a basic foundation for the future ballerina or ballet dancer. Students are inspired to dance with creative and stimulating dance activities as they enter into the world of dance. Students learn to move to simple rhythms, improve coordination and balance, and learn basic ballet steps and terminology. Other activities include skipping, hopping, walking on the balance beam with fun and familiar songs.
Ballet-beginning, intermediate and advanced: Ballet is a very controlled, structured and disciplined form of dance. Depending on age, dance experience and ability, students begin and move forward at various levels in ballet dance. Students with no dance background experience begin with the very basic technique of ballet, moving forward to more difficult technique as they master the skills at each level. Preparation with work at the ballet barre and in the center of the room is instrumental to students being able to properly perform the various ballet techniques. There are many ballet terms that students learn to master and provide students with a good basis when pursuing other forms of dance. Ballet is performed in soft, leather ballet shoes. Pointe: Advanced students of ballet move on to Pointe dancing or Toe dancing, as some refer to it. They dance ballet in hard-toed shoes. Students usually begin Pointe around the age of 12 years with several years of ballet experience behind them. It is important that students bodies have fully developed and proper technique and body alignment have been achieved. Pointe “readiness” must be determined by a qualified dance instructor. Pointe students must take two classes per week. In the first weekly class, we concentrate on technique, body alignment, and performance. In the second weekly class, we concentrate on technique, strength and body alignment.
Pre-Pointe: Students ages 10 and up who are committed to ballet and are enrolled in a ballet class can also take pre-pointe to prepare to dance on toe. See pointe description above.
Pilates: This class will be designed for any student but particularly good for the Pointe dancer. Pilates strengthens and stabilizes the core, improves flexibility, and increases overall upper body strength. This class is taken in conjunction with the Pointe technique class but is open to any level of dancer or anyone interested.

Tap: Tap dancing is created by making various pronounced sounds and rhythms by striking the floor in shoes that have metal plates on the toe and heel. Depending on the class taken, students dance to contemporary, Broadway musical, or hip hop type music or any combination of music throughout the class.
Ballet and Tap Combo: This combination class provides students with opportunity to be exposed to two types of dance in one class. The class includes a portion of the time spent on ballet technique and later performance and then a portion of the time spent tap dancing. Depending on age, experience and ability, students progress from beginning to more advancing technique and steps. For younger students, they spend time with the structure and discipline of ballet and move on to a faster moving and “noisier” form of dance with tap.
Jazz and Broadway Jazz: Jazz is a highly technical and stylized form of dance usually done to contemporary music or Broadway music. Jazz draws on its roots from African rhythms, which isolated various parts of the body in movement, and incorporates ballet technique and various social dances and tap rhythms. The result is a high energy, fast paced class that can look like a musical theater dance, a Rockette type dance and even a little bit of hip hop thrown in! Jazz can be a fun class for any age or experience.
Hip Hop: These classes provide high energy, street moves, danced to the rhythms of today’s favorite R&B, hip hop and pop music. Beginners through advanced and/or adult classes are provided. All music is age appropriate and free of any suggestive audio.
Pom: Students hoping to try out for their pom team will benefit from this class. We will work on pom techniques that will prepare you for your schools’ tryouts or just provide you with great fun and exercise.
Color Guard: This class provides instruction from the very basics and up. Work with basic flag movement, including single and double fast spinning,
African: High energy, expressive style of dance with live drumming. Begin with warm up exercises that condition the body for the rigors of this dance form by developing strength, aerobic stamina, flexibility and rhythmic awareness.
Parent/Child Yoga: Parents & child(ren) will participate in an age appropriate, fun oriented yoga class. Yoga poses, games, chants, music, relaxation & breathing techniques will be a part of every class. Bring mats to class. A few are available.
